humbled & inspired | bay area friend & photographer

a few months ago i wrote about a dear friend who had just been given some life-altering news. fast forward to today, she is one of the strongest women i know – fighting a fight in her own, powerful way. she is amazing, she inspires me, she is a constant in my thoughts and prayers. i enjoy following along the journey she is traveling, and tonight as i logged on and began to read her heart – i was paralyzed. sitting in my chair, having had a less-than-stellar ‘mom day’ with my kids, finding myself ever frustrated with the things that came at me all wrong. what a selfish, thoughtless person i was today. what a humbling night i’ve had thinking about her words. with her permission i am sharing with you, in hopes that you too will take a second to think about others. to retrain your mind and your heart. and to my sweet friend, you’re a blessing to me, love you to pieces. xoxo, ang

i really enjoy your thoughts and appreciate your questions through the comments on here! of course you can always ask me things on formspring, which is a great platform in which everyone else can follow along. yesterday in the comment section the rancher’s wife asked for some details on my session of darling evey, and i was happy to share! so here you go, the oh-so-hush strait out of camera images from three of my favorite shots with some details too.

a few things… sorry that the settings are literally the same. i looked through to see and nope, i didn’t change it up at all except to shoot at f /1.6 for an image or two. this family had gorgeous light, which i remembered from evey’s newborn session. with a 4 month old who can only roll over i wasn’t scrambling to capture a quick toddler, so it was easy to stay at the settings i was at. perhaps sometime i’ll do this with a different type of session, i know just last night on formspring someone asked about backlighting so that might be next up in a ‘behind the camera’ post. anyhow, hopefully this helps rancher’s wife! if anything you get to see darling evey once more. happy thursday!

come as you are & other news | bay area photographer

well hi there! thanks for all the encouragement on my first video blog from last week. i appreciate each of you so! there are some exciting things i’ve wanted to share and i thought i’d go ahead and give this another go. thanks for tuning in and have a blessed day my friends.

Angie Talks | Come As You Are from angie warren on Vimeo.

andrea - Love that you're putting it all out there, not that you didn't write with your heart, but it's nice to see your face and hear your voice as well. Can't wait to see what you and Marta are working on!

Gina Sandrzyk - Lovely Angie! It is so great how you are putting yourself out there! I can't wait to hear what you and Marta are up to ....good luck wishes to you gals!

jessica g - you just have to keep things exciting, don't you! great work on the vlog, that almost takes more gumption than diving into the business!!

aileen - angie ~ i.love.you. is that too forward? :) omgosh. i guess now i'm in a similar place to where you were in the fall. i have completely stepped back from alot of the "stuff". limited my online social media time. started looking IN more instead of OUT. getting my own stuff in line with ME. cheers to you photog-sister.

michele - I am glad to heat that you are finding yourself that is wonderful! I love what you are doing and keep it going! I can't wait to see what you girls are up too! congrats!!!!

Launa - Thanks for the encouragement! I\'m in the place of finding \"me\"....being so new to all of this, it is so tempting to try to be like someone that you admire and loose sight of what you love and who you are as an artist. I can\'t wait to see what you and Marta are up to! I would love to be able to take one of her workshops someday.....just need to save my pennies! Thanks for being YOU and sharing with all of us!! <3

Heather - WOW! Perfect timing on your great videos, I'm taking Marta's workshop right now, day 3. This topic has been so interesting for me as a newbie, glad to hear all this great info now vs. later, it's fantastic. I know your raved about her workshop after you took it, I was thrilled to be able to sign up for it.

Amie Hansen - Thanks again for sharing your thoughts and encouragement as a beginner photographer myself you make me think and act of what I want out of photography!!!!

Amy C - Kudos to you! You are amazing and I truly look forward to your posts! I learn so much from you. I am trying to open my own photography business and I just haven't taken the plunge yet. Mostly because of the things you said. It can be overwhelming and you feel like you have to live up to certain standards. I've learned a lot from the forums, but I've had to step away a bit. Thank you so much for sharing your heart and mind the way you do for all of us to be a part of :)

Mindy W - Angie, I love your transparency. I think it's important to set boundaries for ourselves in the photography world-it so easy to get caught up in comparing our work, business, ideas, etc. On forums it can be difficult to decipher the difference between surfing for professional growth vs. creating unhealthy expectations for ourselves. As far as clearing your blog reader and stepping back from forums? Genius. You go girl.

samantha - Sometimes it seems as if we are alone in these feelings. It's very uplifting to know that we ( or I ) am not alone at all. Thanks for sharing your heart with us once again, Ang.
