made my day x 2.

photos of me with the kids are rare. i am usually always the one taking the pictures. today i ran across these images shot by our friend rachel from a recent adventure. they are just good ole photos of us. they are not fabulously edited (she sent me the raw files mind you), and they surely don’t show my most flattering side – but does that matter in the long run? nah. getting precious pictures of us in the here and now, that is the most important. that is what made me smile.

to top off this day of very few time outs and great naps, i heard this from my sweet little d: “mama, you make me wondersul dinners… like pasta and cimanen toast. i lub your dinners. thanks for making me dinner ebery night and ebery tomorrow.“  if you know d, you know that little voice that just so confidently speaks his mind. does he have a hard time pronunciating? sure. does he care? not a bit. do we? are you kidding me? his words are filled with love and such joy. it’s during these times i go to bed at night feeling so incredibly blessed i can hardly sleep. tonight i’ll crawl under the covers with not only my husband and our rocky dog, but also that sweet big brother (and the 34 matchbox cars he snuck with him).
